WHAT WE DO
Persad Center is dedicated to improving the well-being of the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) communities and the HIV/AIDS communities in Western Pennsylvania. Through a variety of outreach, prevention, counseling, advocacy, and training services, we work to resolve problems faced by the LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS communities.
Founded in 1972, Persad Center is one of the nation’s trailblazers in offering professional counseling services specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. Over decades, we've learned a lot about the unique experiences and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people. In the 1980’s Persad expanded its mission to serve individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to respond to the devastating impact the disease was having on our communities. All of our work is informed by a rich legacy of professional experience that is unmatched in western Pennsylvania.
Beyond counseling, Persad offers a comprehensive array of programs and services designed to meet the needs of individuals at any age and at every stage of life. We are passionate about meeting the needs of the LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS communities to build stronger, safer, healthier communities.
