PERSAD Center is here to help – Beginning tomorrow morning and continuing through the week, PERSAD staff will be hosting several free Drop-In Coffee Hours for community members to gather in a safe space to share feelings, reactions and responses to the Orlando tragedy. No appointment necessary.
If you are overwhelmed, sad, confused, alone, unhappy, afraid, thinking of suicide, homeless, addicted, in a bad relationship, or just think you need to talk to someone, we want to help. Talking to someone can help during periods of extreme stress, or when emotions are strong and you need someone to someone to help you sort things out.
Our specialized transgender counseling services include opportunities for gender evaluation, individual, couples, group counseling, family education programs, and referrals. We work with a network of compassionate professionals to assist clients with legal services, primary medical care, hormone treatment, and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
PERSAD also serves as an advocate for gender-non-conforming people who have experienced discrimination.
PERSAD recognizes that when LGBTQ people suffer from addiction that they may be better treated by a specialist who not only knows addiction treatment, but also is sensitive and competent in LGBTQ cultures.
LGBTQ identity does not cause addiction, but it may complicate recovery from addiction. Persad therapists are able to help individuals to stop addictive patterns and to learn how to live as an LGBTQ person without drugs.
