Music Library Association honors James P. Cassaro
In recognition of distinguished service to music librarianship over a career
PERSAD CENTER is enriched by the wide range of talents and professional experiences of our Board members. The talents of our Board President, James P. Cassaro, were highlighted recently when he was honored by the Music Library Association (MLA) with the MLA Citation for 2014. The Citation is a tribute for lifetime achievement, and is awarded in recognition of distinguished service to music librarianship over a career. Jim has occupied many important roles in service to the MLA including President, Treasurer and Editor-in-chief of Notes, the Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association.
Cassaro is Head of the Music Library and the Frick Fine Arts Library in the Department of Music at the University of Pittsburgh. A consumate music librarian, he has left his mark on several of the most significant music collections and published key texts targeted at music librarians. As a scholar, he has produced musicological scholarship and critical editions in a wide variety of fields including the French Barouque and 19th century Italian opera.
The Board and Staff of PERSAD CENTER wish to congratulate Jim on receiving this distinguished honor from the MLA, and express our gratitude for his tireless leadership and support of PERSAD CENTER. Kudos Jim!
