How We Approach Mental Health

Our Approach

Since 1972, Persad has been the region’s leader in LGBTQ+ mental health.

We believe in a holistic and balanced approach to mental health, healing, and personal growth within the community.

The balance of a healthy mind and healthy body is key to overall well-being, so we look for a variety of ways to support and encourage mental and physical development that enhances our clients’ quality of life and overall experience.

Types of Licensing at Persad

Persad employs licensed therapists and clinicians, including LPCs, LCSWs, and LSWs, with a wide range of experience and specialized training.

Our team believes that therapy should be tailored to the individual, not that the individual should conform to a specific therapy model. With diverse clinical backgrounds and approaches, our therapists work to ensure the right fit for each client.

Types of Accreditation Factiod

Persad’s therapists are trained in evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, and EMDR.

We also have therapists who have earned ITCA Transgender Certification. Our services include couples therapy, youth therapy, gender-affirming therapy, and drug and alcohol counseling.

You Can Make a Difference

Persad has been sustained by community support for over 50 years. Financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteer time all make a direct difference in the care and services we can provide.

Donate

Your gift funds therapy for clients who can't afford it, keeps the food pantry stocked, supports Phoenix Fitness, and helps Persad continue responding when the community needs something new.

Current Needs

In-kind donations of food, hygiene products, fitness equipment, and supplies make a real difference. Our current needs list is updated regularly.

Volunteer

Volunteers support events, outreach, the food pantry, administrative work, and more. If you want to put your time toward something that matters, Persad has a place for you.
