Dr. David Givens comes to the Persad team with 15 years of experience working with communities impacted by HIV, stigma and discrimination, and other health disparities.  David is a longtime resident of Pittsburgh and a graduate of the University of Central Florida (dual BA) and University of Pittsburgh (MA, PhD).  During that time, through Director and Faculty roles at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, Dr. Givens has led or supported more than a dozen CDC, HRSA, and PA Dept. of Health funded interventions, policy and planning initiatives, and community-based research, training, and engagement projects.  David’s passion revolves around collaboratively developing resources and empowerment for marginalized and historically under-resourced communities, a commitment that shows through his engagement with (for example) LGBTQIA+ communities, communities impacted by HIV, and disability communities.  David is excited to bring his training and experience in public health program evaluation and implementation, community engagement and communications, and project management and strategic planning to Persad and the communities it serves. He lives just south of Pittsburgh with his wife - an author and child immigrant and refugee resettlement and education specialist - and their four kids.
